What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy is a highly effective treatment option for pain, including chronic pain. Therapy is delivered to the site of pain through a handpiece on the machine, which sends soundwaves into the tissue. Shockwave can provide instant relief of symptoms, but a course of short sessions is usually required to completely resolve pain.
How does it work?
The soundwaves penetrate into the tissue which causes the body to think it has been injured. This stimulates the healing process of bringing more blood flow and oxygen to the area and aids with new cell growth. Shockwave also reduces your nerve endings ability to perceive pain and breaks down areas of calcification.

Which conditions can Shockwave treat?
Focal shockwave is specifically designed for stubborn musculoskeletal problems that haven’t responded to traditional podiatry treatments, such as:
- Chronic Plantar Fasciitis: Especially that “first step in the morning” pain
- Achilles Tendinopathy: For stubborn pain at the back of the heel
- Heel Spurs: Effectively breaking down calcified tissue without surgery
- Stress Fractures: Stimulating bone-growth proteins for faster healing
- Knee & Shins: Patellar tendonitis and stubborn ‘shin splints’
